I love your website, especially browsing http://dev.c99.org/DreamZZT/. :)

We were planning an update of DCEvolution.net for quite a while now. And we discussed if and how a Wiki could be used for DCEvolution but it seems it requires a good bit more knowledge than we have atm.

I would love to ask you for your support, Sam. - Could you help us installing a Wiki to be used for DCEvolution.net and it's sister site http://www.DCHelp.net ?

Our goal is to merge DCEvo and DCHelp along with Captain Skyhawk's Dreamcast Knowledge Base into one big site that's much easier to maintain and to update.

The Dreamcast Knowledge base currently is using YaBB. Other than Dreamcast-Scene.com, its focus always was set towards 100% pure Dreamcast homebrew information, but as you can imagine it's not exactly easy to edit which resulted in the sad fact that except for the conversion from HTML to YaBB in late 2004 it hasn't really been updated much since its early days (2001-2003).

But that's just one part of our network that would become more accessible for our staff, DCEvolution's releases also needs pages that are easier to update. Same for all the billions of tutorials at DCHelp.

I know I am asking for a lot, but I think we just need someone to point us in the right direction, not to do all of our work actually converting the content.

Hope you can help us out,

    -Chris

The pages on dev.c99.org are using the wiki that's built into trac, so I don't really have much experience setting up a standalone wiki. MediaWiki shouldn't be too difficult to get set up, though. The installation walkthrough seems easy enough: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Installation

Feel free to IM me if you need further help.

    -Sam

I've actually used MediaWiki and I have to agree with c99koder. In fact, out of all the Wiki software I've tried I've found MediaWiki to be the easiest to setup and use.

Well, it IS the same technology WikiPedia uses...
