I've released a new version of Frotz DC today. The text library has been rewritten from the ground up to support the Dreamcast's 3D hardware, resulting in much faster and more responsive text input and output. It is also built against the latest version of KOS, offering better support for third-party keyboards.Other major changes include: A flashing cursor, a VMU reading / writing indicator, and more public domain games are included on the CD images. The file selector now also shows files with the "zip" extension. Please note that it cannot load compressed games, but some people seem to be naming z-machine files incorrectly.

Since you didn't leave any other way to contact you, I hope you get around to reading this.

The latest release of FrotzDC supports CD swapping, so you can burn a cd with .z5 files in a subdirectory named "frotz". Then at the game select screen, you can eject the FrotzDC cd and put in your new cd, then press the Y button on the controller to rescan the cd for games.

    Hope that helps!

I can't seem to find any instructions for this thing. I'm guessing so far that the proper configuration is: controller in port A with VMU in slot 1, keyboard in port B, VGA output (or is it just my imagination that a TV output gets no display?), and all the games in a frotz/ directory on the disc (I've already coastered a disc figuring THAT one out). My questions are: is any of the above info wrong, and exactly how many games per disc can this thing handle?

Yep, that's correct (except for the VGA output. it works fine on my TV). The keyboard can be in any port other than the first one, the controller with VMU is assumed to be in port 1. As far as the file selector goes, you should be able to have as many as 1024 games per cd, though it would take you a while to sort through them all to find the one you want :)
