To those of you in the US, happy thanksgiving. For everyone else, happy .. end of november?

Anyway, it's a few days later than I had planned, but here goes: introducing the first demo of the next version of DCBlap! DCBlap has been rewritten to use Cryptic Allusion's new cross-platform library Tiki, so it now runs on the Dreamcast, Mac, Windows, and Linux. It's finally gotten to a playable state, so enjoy the demo! The Dreamcast version doesn't have sound, and the Mac version is a universal binary so it requires 10.4. All platforms are single-player only right now.

    Dreamcast + Windows: http://www.c99.org/dc/dcblap/zip/tikiblap-demo-0.1.zip
    Mac: http://www.c99.org/dc/dcblap/zip/tikiblap-demo-0.1-mac.zip

There's currently no Linux binary, but Linux users are welcome to try to compile it themselves. The source to TikiBlap is available under the GNU General Public License version 2, and can be browsed at http://svn.c99.org/viewcvs/DCBlap/trunk/ or checked out of Subversion from http://svn.c99.org/svn/DCBlap/trunk/.

There's a new version of DCSquares that's going to be on GOAT Games Vol. 1, but I haven't heard anything about that in a long time. If Dan Loosen doesn't get things more organized and start making progress, I'm probably going to release it on my own.

I still occasionally work on DCBlap, but I haven't had the time or inspiration to sit down and finish the new menus or fix the last few bugs in the collision detection code.

Ah that's great to hear about DCBlap! Will you update/polish the in-game graphics too ?

In the last DCSquares Dreamcast releases there always was that problem with the game crashing when attempting to change the theme to the classic theme. Has that been fixed ?
( I think you uploaded a fixed version a while back, but it still crashed I think ...? )

About Dan Loosen: I guess he's really busy working on GOAT Games. Maybe ask him what's up and give him a little bit more time. Would be nice to see DCSquares on GG1.

Btw: Since Meta's DreamOn magazine never got finished, we've recently decided to release the Sandman Demo Disk at DCEvolution:

Included is your MultiSquares DreamCon demo :)

I wrote an import/export script for Blender to read/write DCBlap map files, which will allow for more complex / detailed maps. However, I haven't had the time to make any.

It's a shame about the DreamOn magazine, but I'm glad to hear SandMan got released.

As for DCSquares, I remember working on that bug, but I don't remember if we ever fixed it. It's not relevant for the GOAT Games version, since that only has one theme and no options menu.

Right now my efforts are focused on DreamZZT, but after I get that released I'll probably focus on DCBlap again.
