Yep. It's been mentioned a few times, the game was inspired by Squares 2. Of course, it's grown enough features of its own to be more than just a clone now :)

Yea, I tried Squares 2 once, didn't much care for it -- but this game! I love this game!

it is more than a clone(except for the classic theme haha), its nice. the combo was a good idea, and the high scores are great. i never fgured that out :D Only thing I would suggest is that you can get more than one powerup at once. then you can get speed and invincibility at the same time and really kick some ass :)

    also,
do you think you could put in a credit in somewhere or a "based on..." type thing in the menu or about box?

The project page for DCSquares at http://www.c99.org/dc/dcsquares/ has always given credit, but I will also add it to the about box. Yes, the classic theme is very similar.. but it has a cat! 8)

I have some new powerups and other features planned that I hope to unveil soon. Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you like the game :)

No prob. Squares 2 is fun too :) I'm actually about to post a news message about this, so I'll mention it here too: I'll be demoing a multiplayer version of DCSquares next month at the East Coast Gaming Expo. It's a Dreamcast-only feature right now, since it requires more than one input device, but at some point I'd like to have an online version too. I'm going to start another thread for this when I post the news.

There's also 2 new modifiers coming: attract and repel, that will draw squares towards you (both red and green), or repel them.

Out of curiosity, how'd you find DCSquares? I noticed a huge surge in traffic and new users today. DreamHost doesn't generate traffic reports until 3AM the next day, so I can't check the referrers yet :)

Credit is given in the about box of the Windows and Mac versions of DCSquares 2.0.1. I've been meaning to update the front page with a bit more information anyway, so I'll add credit there when I get around to updating it.
