there were a lot of musings about the influence of mice used etc.
Berfore I read this thread, i had never tried to play DCsquares with a mouse.
So I was surprised to read that graphics artists work on a mac because the mice are better (ŋŋŋ ???). I only got a mouse that I use if there is a problem or no keystroke or the wheel comes handy, like for reading an electronic book.
Well I know 10000 good reason to use a Mac and PC ownners will have as many to prefer a PC ( i do for bookeeping ) but I have always used a tablet on my Mac. Mice have been very awkward for me to draw or correct pics. Sorry but I'm of a generation still used to pens rather than keyboards.but then I had to try: results with the mouse were desastrous, which was to be expected as I'm no experienced mouser.
There is one significant difference though:
if i hit the borders of my tablet, the game is over immediately. that does not happen with a mouse, the cursor bounces back.what are your experiences? how many of you use a small grapphire tablet?

yellowcat - you inspired me to try out my wacom - first try 106000 (ish) - it's fine!
do you use a wacom? I did for 10 yrs, loved it & then os X broke the driver & I've been sulking since, even though I did get a new Graphire. Can't seem to get the side button to work at the moment, having just tried it.
I'm a convert to mice - I use pc optical mice all the time at work (nightmare) but when I sulked & got an apple optical mouse for my mac - it really is a piece of engineering

right sophyr, it is the 1st generation graphire I use. And yes I know what you are talking about, my nice 12"x12" Ultrapad now sits beside the old Mac and is mainly used with the scanner and OS9. I have tried all sorts of 3rd party drivers and adapters, no go without usb (useless serial bus).
So i'll use the small tablet till I can afford a new one and yes my side buttons work. -

yellowcat, it's so wasteful isn't it? It's great when technology moves on, but the stuff it leaves behind
Is your scanner scsi? Mine is & absolutely perfect, but completely obsolete unless I keep MY old mac. Ditto cd-rw, ditto CRTs...And NOW apple's going for Intel.
Grouch over!

You can actually use the Mighty Mouse on older Mac Versions, you just canīt reconfigure the buttons.

Mighty Mouse looks cool.. I've been tempted to get one, but CompUSA isn't carrying it yet. I don't live anywhere near an Apple store, so I have to wait for CompUSA to catch up with Apple or order online.

I'm about a half an hour away from an Apple store but I like my 1 button mouse enough to not spend the money on another.
When I buy my next computer though (whever that will be) I shall have a MM (unless I get a new PowerBook)
