I've been meaning to update this site to display the minimum system requirements, but DCSquares uses OpenGL to display the graphics, so it depends on having a fast OpenGL system. For linux, this generally means installing the binary nvidia or ati drivers. All of my testing is done on a Pentium III with a 16MB nvidia TNT2, and it runs fine on that system with the binary nvidia driver.

If you let X11 try to render the OpenGL using software, you will get a very low framerate, which will make the game unplayable.

I'll check out the site you mentioned, thanks for the link.
