The latest version of DCSquares is out for Sega Dreamcast, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X! Grab it from the brand new official website!
This new version features built in internet scores*, themes, and tons of bug fixes! Check out the ChangeLog on the downloads page for a complete list of changes.
Have fun!

Great release, very stable with gameplay, menu options and theme selection. Menu selection can be a little sensative with the DC controller (nothing to worry about - probably me all fingers and thumbs  ), but using a mouse all is just fine.
Thanks Sam.

I like the new features, only I find that the red and black are not different enough (maybe its just my monitor) have they been changed? If so, why?
Ah, I've just found the schemes and the blue and purple suits me better.
Only other thing is that the sound seems to have disappeared - I will investigate this as it may not be the new version that is causing the problem.

The red is a "tv-friendly" red, which means it's kind of dark so it doesn't bleed on a tv. If you're on a PC, try changing evil_r to 255 in themes\default\theme.ini if you want a very bright red. Looking at my file here, it appears the red color is a bit darker than it should be.. 192 should still be a safe color on a TV. I'll increase it to 192 for the next release.
We're hoping to have some additional themes available soon, which will add even more color variety.
Thanks for the feedback :)

Right, the sound problem was a driver problem.
The colour is now OK for me with the new suggested setting.
Only thing I would comment on is that when you "collect" two or more blocks in quick succession the subsequent blocks do not get their own beep as the previous one is still playing, so you have to watch the block disappear rather than reacting to the beep. This only applies when using the 909squares theme.
Can this be added?
Other additions ...... have you thought about sending the total number of blocks or number of combo blocks back with the High Score data?

The sound bug has been fixed for 1.4. Adding the combo to the high scores is definatly something I want to add, but I haven't gotten around to adjusting the score code generator yet. Hopefully that will make it into the next version.
