DCSquares 1.1 is out! This release fixes several bugs in 1.0, as well as adding several new features. Check out the ChangeLog on the download page to see what's new! Also, due to a bug in 1.0 that could allow cheating, the high score ladder has been reset and will only accept passwords from 1.1 or newer.

Nice addictive game :) What would really make it cool is probably some user control on how fast the game can play. The game seems to be really, really slow in the beginning, and my impatience is causing me to get killed ROFL
EDIT: I've been a member of this board for a long time, I could have sworn I've posted before now.

Nice. However, support for the nonanalog would be nice. It is too hard to deal with the analog stick, as it gives you too much control.

After you receive a highscore, and click to start again, your next highscore is the same as your previous one, nevermind if you beat it or not. How is the highscore code created anyway? Is there some sort of time built into it, surely a rather evil user could just repeatedly paste his hiscore into the box again and again?

I've played all three versions, and the Dreamcast version is the hardest. Can I make some suggestions to make the Dreamcast users more on a fair setting for high score listing:
the sensitivity on the analog stick is still too high - it's still unplayable without the Dreamcast mouse - the highest score I got was 4000 with the joystick
enabling the D-pad for play - I'm the kind of person who plays Crazy Taxi with the D-pad, and I know there's people like me who prefer the D-pad even if it's less responsive
the Dreamcast version plays too fast - the squares start getting faster sooner than they do in the computer versions.
turn down the amount of squares that are sent out in the Dreamcast version. It's insane on the DC! I've had 8 blocks fly out at me as soon as I start the game. I can't get combos that way, and there's no way I can get a DC Highscore on the list. The highest score I was able to get on the DC was around 25,000

I would just seperate the three systems. For the dreamcast, I was able to manage to see my sister get a 5433 with a regular DC controller. However, it was not posted since she did not qualify for a forum account (under 13), and refused to let me post it under my name. Yeah, this thing really is hard on the DC. It is way easier on the PC. Have any plans to port it to Linux? Probably with a DC emulator layer added to it?

1. The highscore on the title screen will show whatever your highest score for the session was. I've never seen it not update if you beat it, but if you can reproduce this let me know.
1a. The highscore codes are a secret ;) but the database wont let you post the same score twice with the same username. However there's nothing stopping you from entering the same code as a different user, and why should there? 2 people could get the same score, and possibly the same code (though the codes are randomized to reduce this).
1b. As for the under 13 thing, that's because of the default way phpBB is set up. It was a lot easier to authenticate against phpBB's system, instead of having to reinvent the wheel. phpBB also offers controls for banning IPs and users if someone abuses the score system. I think the under 13 question was added because of some silly US law. If someone wants to view inappropriate content, they're just going to lie about their age anyway. I know I used to plenty of times. AFAIK in the US if she's under 13 she can't post any info on the internet, or a "predator" might get her! *gasp*. I'm pretty sure she can get a parent's approval and sign up, though, if she really wants to post her score.
2. Yes, the Dreamcast version is hard :) It's actually because the Windows version runs too slow, not the other way around. I will slow the DC version down to match Windows. My friend and I have been playing for the past 4 hours and we came up with some really fun new ideas that should even the game out a big more. Stay tuned!
3. I will enable d-pad play, and I'll try to make the analog stick's sensativity adjustable. Playing crazy taxi with the d-pad must be difficult.. lol!
I apologize if I missed anything, it's 2am and I'm tired :) I'll re-read the thread tomorrow and address anything I missed. Thanks for the feedback, and enjoy the game!
